September 29, 2023: Querétaro Mexico: Querétaro's Culinary Quirks - A Joyful Journey Off the Beaten Path

Hello to all my gastronomic adventurers!

Today’s escapades brought an unexpected delight as I ventured into the charm-filled lanes of Querétaro. What was supposed to be a day in Puebla turned into a serendipitous detour, and I must say, the universe indeed works in mysterious and flavorful ways!

My morning began near Los Arcos, Querétaro's emblematic aqueduct. As I took a seat at a rooftop café, I was greeted with a breathtaking view of this centuries-old marvel, and a breakfast spread that was every bit its match. The sun, in its gentle ascent, cast a golden glow on the structure, making my meal of local cheeses, fresh breads, and aromatic coffee even more enchanting.

Come midday, I took a short drive to the magical town of Bernal. Amidst the shadow of the world's third-largest monolith, the scents and sights of sizzling gorditas pulled me in. Each pocket of corn dough, generously filled with an assortment of spiced meats, melted cheeses, and vibrant vegetables, told a tale of tradition and taste. A quick, hearty, and utterly delicious pit stop!

But Querétaro wasn't done surprising me. Before heading back, a local baker introduced me to Pedos De Monja or "Nun's Farts." These whimsically named biscuits were a revelation – light, airy, and delightfully sweet. A chuckle-inducing name with a flavor profile that's pure serenity.

As the sun sets on my unexpected day in Querétaro, I'm reminded once again that sometimes the best plans are the unplanned ones. While the heart of Tulum Table beats with Tulum's essence, it's these unexpected detours that paint a fuller, richer portrait of Mexico's culinary canvas.

Stay hungry and ever-curious,
